India head into the fourth Test of this series in Ranchi with a lead after losing the opening Test in Hyderabad against England.
India vs England Team News & Key Factors
England’s Bazball has worked to an extent so far, but there was always going to be a challenge in execution against India’s quality spinners in home conditions.
That has come to pass now with England having failed in their preferred mode of execution. The one certainty however, is that they won’t be changing their styles at any point in this series.
England have named their XI for the game on the eve, with Ollie Robinson and Shoaib Bashir getting the nod. Mark Wood and Rehan Ahmed will miss out as a result. The rest of the team retain their spots, including Jonny Bairstow, who has had a tough series to date.
"We do like to look at the pitch two days out and one day out, because that's how we like to pick our XIs," Stokes explained of Bashir's selection.
"You want to give yourself some idea or some indication about what XI you think is going to give you the best chance.
"Looking at that, I think there is going to be assistance for spin, but I think also it looks like someone like Bash, who releases the ball from such a high release point, the extra bounce that he gets we feel is going to bring us more into the game."
On the other hand, India will have rested Jasprit Bumrah for this game, with Mukesh Kumar having joined the squad after a quick stint in the Ranji Trophy, India’s premier domestic first-class competition. KL Rahull will continue to stay out due to injury.
India vs England Tips & Predictions
England have been in solid shape right through this series, but have had poor periods, which has cost them a lot so far. India are slowly returning to their best squad but have also chosen to rest key players with the series still alive.
India just seem to have more bases covered in these conditions, including a big gulf between the two teams in the spin-bowling department.
This may not be a totally one-sided game because England’s batsmen have shown enough depth and consistency but we’re still backing India to cruise through to another series win at home.
Verdict
India are backed for victory and to seal another home series victory.
