  • Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators, Tips and Predictions
But when they run into Quetta Gladiators, they will know their previous result can only give them so much.

A glance at the points table shows that both teams are on nine points—and in with an excellent chance of making the playoffs—but the Gladiators have a game in hand, having played just seven. The team failed to increase their points tally after being defeated by Karachi Kings in the last match.

Jamal’s golden spell helps Zalmi thrive

Iftikhar Ahmed, a big-hitting middle-order batter, walloped 27 off 60 as Zalmi saw their efforts to make 204 nearly go up in smoke. Aamer Jamaal and Naveen-ul-Haq were properly under the pump. Who would’ve thought 58 off three overs was possible?

Somehow, Salman Irshad held his nerve to defend 23 off the final over to help seal the win. Jamal’s 2 for 36 in a game where all the bowlers went for runs proved to be absolute gold dust.

Babar’s red-hot form propels Gladiators

Babar Azam seemed jaded and consumed by his own reputation towards the end of his stint with Karachi Kings. But at a new franchise, there’s been an unusual calmness all around him that stems from stability and shutting off external noise. Babar has been in a rich vein of form; his 40-ball 64 laid the foundation for their tall chase. He was helped along by Saim Ayub, who has enhanced his reputation in recent times as one of Pakistan’s most improved upcoming batters.

Ayub, who was on the tour of Australia, made 46 off 22. Babar and Ayub have accounted for 616 runs between them; Babar’s 394 at a strike rate of 152.12 with one hundred and three fifties makes him the top run-getter at this stage. He’s comfortably ahead of Reeza Hendricks, who is second on the list with 304 runs.

Coming at the time it has – Babar also had an excellent Bangladesh Premier League, which augurs well for Pakistan, especially with the T20 World Cup coming up in the Caribbean and USA this June-July.

In terms of squad strength and current form, Gladiators are the overwhelming favourites. A win will help them all but seal a playoff berth. Zalmi will need to bowl better against a marauding batting line-up to compete.
