Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI Preview

Sri Lanka will be overjoyed with the manner of their victory in the first ODI against a hapless Bangladesh team. Chasing 245 for victory, Bangladesh were cruising at 100 for 1 in the 17th over before they collapsed to 105 for 8.

Sri Lanka’s spinners were exceptional through the middle overs, particularly Wanindu Hasaranga, who managed 4 for 10 from his 7.5 overs. Kamindu Mendis managed 3 for 19 from his five overs.

Sri Lanka were beautifully set up by Charith Asalanka, who scored 106 off 123 balls while wickets were falling all around him. Kusal Mendis scored 45 off 43 balls as well.

The bowlers were terrific with the use of the pitch to flummox Bangladesh’s batters, who clearly lacked confidence.

Bangladesh have big batting issues, which have continued for a while now. Tanzid Hasan was exceptional with 62 off 61 balls and Jaker Ali scored 51 but no other batter crossed 25.

"Those two wickets in one over was the turning point for them," Taskin said. "Definitely, we batted badly in the middle phase, but we had a great start with 100 runs in 16 overs. Then 100 for 2 and 107 for 8 - that was very costly.

Sri Lanka have the edge over Bangladesh in this series: they have been exceptional through this tour against a team that has clearly lacked confidence for a while now with their batting. The odds are similar as the first ODI, which should mean Sri Lanka could close out the series on Saturday.
