World Cup Best Bets - June 14

Brazil are looking to make a winning start to the 2026 World Cup in what may yet prove to be a tricky group. Taking on arguably the strongest side they will face in Group C in their opener, Brazil will know they can take little for granted against Morocco. Indeed, their last meeting ended in a 2-1 loss for Brazil, although this was a friendly. Victory over Egypt in their last game made it three consecutive victories without a clean sheet. With the pressure on them immediately, I back Brazil to secure a win despite having to pick the ball out of their own net. 

Australia will feel they have the quality to get out of World Cup Group D, although this will need to begin with a win over a solid opponent in game one. Taking on the USA and Paraguay after their game against Türkiye will see the Aussies given a number of chances to pick up points. However, with the games likely to be seen as fairly well-matched, it means any of their opponents will fancy themselves too. Against Türkiye, Australia have been poor, losing their previous two meetings. With a loss to Mexico and a draw with Switzerland in their last two, I predict that the Aussies will slump to a defeat in their opener. 

Germany edged to a battling 2-1 win over the USA in their final friendly before the World Cup as they continued to build on a winning run that now stands at nine games. In this time, Germany have won to nil five times, with the nation building a solid base at the back that enables their forwards to focus on attacking the opposition goal. With Curacao in awful form heading into this one, I predict another win to nil for the Germans.
