For Argentina, this seems like a swansong for Lionel Messi, with the reigning champions looking to help him to consecutive titles. Of course, Messi is so influential that him appearing at another World Cup is not completely out of the question, but it looks very unlikely.

Meanwhile, Spain showed they were the best team in Europe by winning Euro 2024, and they now have the chance to show they are the best side in the world by securing the 2026 World Cup trophy. 

The odds suggest there is little between the sides, and this will likely be shown on the pitch. If Spain can keep the ball and frustrate Argentina then they will feel they are the team to back, but you simply cannot back completely against Messi.
