Australia vs Bangladesh Women 1st ODI Preview & Tips
Australia Women return to the ODI game for the first time since a 3-0 series win over the West Indies back in April.
Bangladesh Women were swatted aside by Sri Lanka in their last ODI outing as they slumped to a seven-wicket defeat.
- Australia have won all five of their previous ODI's against Bangladesh
- Phoebe Litchfield scored 77, 46 and 68 for Australia in their last ODI series against the Windies
Head To Head
The pair have met five times before, with Australia winning each game including their last match, which ended in a 10-wicket win.
Australia Women Form
Australia Women are looking to extend a six-game winning run in the ODI game after cruising past India and the West Indies three times apiece.
Their last trio of matches against the Windies saw Australia win by 103 runs, 90 runs and nine wickets. The margin of victory over their opponents is made all the more impressive when considering the West Indies are a strong side that will give most sides a real test.
Australia's dominance in the women's game is not something that looks like it will be relinquished any time soon. The quality of player with bat, ball and in the field that they boast is incredible, while the talent that seems to continually crop up to replace players ensures the Aussies keep moving forward.
Tahlia McGrath will captain a side that contains both Ellyse Perry and Phoebe Litchfield. The latter was in stunning form with the bat against the Windies, scoring 77, 46 and 68 in their last ODI series. Her ability to soak up pressure, rotate the strike and find the gaps in the field make her a nightmare to bowl against, and I back her to hit the ground running with a good score in this series.
Bangladesh Women Form
Bangladesh Women take on the toughest test in women's cricket as they travel to face the best team in their own backyard.
The travelling side have secured just two wins across their last 10 ODI's. Their seven-wicket win over Pakistan back in October of 2025 and their three-wicket win over Sri Lanka in April does little to paper over the cracks of a torrid run in which they have lost to Pakistan, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia and Sri Lanka.
Bangladesh losing to almost all of the top sides across their last 10 shows just how far behind the best they are. They have made strides in recent years and the hope will be that they can show this by securing a win against the Aussies.
However, the likes of England and India would have to be at their very best to get a win in Australia, and they are on another level to Bangladesh. While anything can happen in sport, I am backing against Bangladesh in this one.
Verdict
I am backing Litchfield to go beyond the 50-run mark as Australia cruise into a 1-0 series lead over Bangladesh.
