Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Asian Games Preview & Tips

Bangladesh could not take the wickets to put Pakistan under enough pressure for them to crumble as the latter edged to a six-wicket win in a semi-final cut to 13 overs per side.

Sri Lanka were humbled by India in their Asian Games semi-final as they were skittled for just 45 in their chase of 170 to win.

Across the last 10 meetings between the sides, Bangladesh have secured five T20 wins, with Sri Lanka winning the other five.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh battled hard across their Asian Games semi-final only to slip to a frustrating six-wicket loss at the hands of Pakistan.

Their score of 111/7 came despite the nation slipping to 21/3, meaning their total in 13 overs was a solid effort. After restricting Pakistan to 16/2, Bangladesh were right in the game, but they could only take two more wickets from there as Bangladesh's bowlers struggled to make in-roads.

This loss saw Bangladesh's two-game winning run in the T20 game brought to an end. Now, the focus has to be on getting back to winning ways at the first time of asking. While Bangladesh have not been in the best form in the T20 game, they have been better than Sri Lanka, and I back them to build on two wins across their last three in the shortest format.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka were humiliated by India in their Asian Games semi-final as they were completely outdone with bat and ball in a lesson in cricket.

India's score of 169/7 always looked like it would be out of reach for Sri Lanka, and so it proved. India ran through Sri Lanka's batting unit as only one batter made it to double-figures, while there were six ducks across their innings. At 2/3 and 18/5, scoring 50 runs always looked out of reach as they crumbled to 45 all out.

India are by far and away the best side in the competition, but Sri Lanka would have hoped to have gotten closer to their opponent in their last-four clash. Their match against Bangladesh is entirely winnable, but their form is incredibly worrying.

I am backing Bangladesh to finish the Asian Games in third as they hand Sri Lanka yet another T20 defeat.
