Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe ODI Preview & Tips

Bangladesh have struggled for momentum across formats of late with their last four matches failing to result in a single win.

Zimbabwe fell to an agonising one-wicket loss at the hands of Australia in their last ODI match as they saw their losing run in the format extended to four games.

Bangladesh have won six of their last 10 ODI’s against Zimbabwe, with the latter winning the other four.

Bangladesh saw the chance to beat Afghanistan in their one-off Test evade them as the latter battled to a draw. While the difference between the three formats is large, arriving for their ODI outings on the back of a four-game winless run across formats will have an impact on their confidence.

In the ODI game, Bangladesh’s last series was an unsuccessful one as they slumped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of their next opponents. More positive was the four-game winning run that saw them beat New Zealand twice and Australia twice, but it will still be a worry that this major ODI high made way for some hugely disappointing performances.

Against Zimbabwe, Bangladesh have managed to notch six wins in their last 10 meetings. While Zimbabwe did secure a 2-1 series win over their opponents recently, Bangladesh are the better side. They will not have everything their own way in this contest, but if Bangladesh want to be taken seriously in the men’s game, this is a game they should win.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe were solid across their series against Australia back in September, with their three defeats coming by a smaller margin than some would have expected.

Defeats by 59 runs and 84 runs in their opening encounters were followed by the tightest of one-wicket defeats in the third ODI. While the series was over as a contest, Zimbabwe would have come away with a lot of credit in the bank had they beaten their opponents in the third and final ODI.

Against Bangladesh, Zimbabwe boast two wins in their last three and four wins across their last six. However, Bangladesh are the better side and are my pick to win this one. Zimbabwe have struggled to consistently match the top sides, and I predict that they will slump to a defeat in their clash with Bangladesh.
