Dambulla Sixers vs Jaffna Kings Preview & Tips
Dambulla Sixers saw their hopes of taking a top four spot in the Lanka Premier League take a potentially decisive blow in their last match as they were beaten by the Colombo Kaps.
Jaffna Kings eased to an impressive 21-run win over Kandy last time out as they notched a third successive win in the LPL.
- Jaffna have won their last three against Dambulla
Head To Head
Jaffna have won eight of their last 10 against Dambulla, with the latter winning the other two meetings.
Dambulla Sixers Form
Dambulla Sixers have not had much their own way this season, with a pair of wins coming from their opening seven matches. With five defeats coming in this time, the Sixers have slipped a long way short of their next opponents at the summit.
The four points they have collected does not mean they are out of the running for a top four spot. Indeed, a big win over Jaffna could see them climb above Kandy, although this is unlikely when considering their form and the quality of opponent they face.
Their last outing against Colombo saw Dambulla battle to 174/5. With a win crucial, Dambulla stuttered as their bowlers were unable to deny Colombo, with the latter cruising to a four-wicket win with six deliveries to spare.
While Dambulla will go all out for a win as they look to keep their season alive, I do not see them beating the leaders.
Jaffna Kings Form
Jaffna Kings will likely finish at the summit of the LPL after storming to five wins across their seven outings.
Three consecutive wins over Kandy twice and Colombo has seen Jaffna impress. While they did see Kandy smash their way to 200 in their last outing, this came after Jaffna had taken Kandy's bowling unit apart on their way to 221/6.
With top of the table in sight, Jaffna are the team to back in this one. They have won 10 of their previous 12 T20's against their opponents, and they have looked outstanding with bat and ball this season.
Verdict
I am backing Jaffna to end the regular season with their sixth win in eight matches.
