England Women are aiming to cap off hosting a stunning T20 World Cup by securing the trophy against the best team in cricket.

Australia Women are on course to secure the World Cup by beating each of the best sides in the game after coming through the tougher group at the summit.

They then blew South Africa away in a 40-run win that saw them star with both bat and ball. While England have been excellent so far, they have to find a new level to win this one.

Australia are the best team in the women's game, and they rarely fluff their lines. Across formats, England have lost their last 10 against Australia dating back to a 69-run win back in July 2023. England will be roared on by an expectant crown at Lord's, but they face the most well-rounded outfit in the game.

England have the batters and bowlers to trouble their opponents, but if they remove one potential match-winner, they will be replaced by another. The weight of quality in this Australian side will likely tell in this one as England come up just short.

Australia Women Form

Australia Women have been superb at the Women's T20 World Cup, winning all five of their group games before storming to a statement eight-wicket win over the West Indies in their semi-final.

Australia looked the part from the moment they took to the pitch for the 2026 World Cup as they hammered south Africa by 65 runs. They then easily beat Bangladesh, the Netherlands and Pakistan before eliminating India in a six-wicket win.

Their semi-final against the Windies saw their opponents barely threaten as they were restricted to 125/7, with the Aussies cruising home with eight wickets and 42 deliveries to spare. In truth, no side has come close to matching Australia, which is made all the more impressive with the Aussies coming through the tougher group.

Ellyse Perry continues to showcase her brilliant ability to score runs, and I predict that she will star with the bat as she leads Australia to the trophy.
