India vs Sri Lanka Asian Games Preview & Tips

India are looking to extend their winning run in the T20 game to eight matches after building an impressive streak in the shortest format.

Sri Lanka's hopes of ending a four-game losing run in the T20 game rest on their Asian Games semi-final against the best side in the competition.

India have won eight of their last 10 against Sr Lanka in the T20 game, with the latter battling to just two wins in this time.

India Form

India arrive for their semi-final of the Asian Games as heavy favourites to go all the way and secure the trophy.

Despite falling to take the middle at the competition until their last-four outing, India boast a seven-game winning run in the T20 game, while they have won nine of their last 10 across formats. Their last game may have ended in a tight two-run win over Japan but, prior to this, they had hammered Afghanistan by seven wickets twice and then by 127 runs in their final clash.

India's ability to blend consistent and explosive batting along with disciplined, wicket-taking bowling means they will be more than a match for any side they face. Shreyas Iyer will be keen to lead by example in their clash with Sri Lanka, and I predict that he will build on his average 34.09 in the T20 game in 2026.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka have really struggled across formats, with two wins and one draw coming alongside seven defeats across the three formats of the game.

Their exploits in the T20 game have been even worse. Nine defeats have come alongside a single win over the West Indies back in June. Their recent T20 series against England saw Sri Lanka lose 3-0 as they barely put up a fight on the field.

A mix of ponderous batting and poor bowling saw England run away with that series, and I predict more of the same in this one. Like England, India are also a world class outfit, and I see nothing other than a routine win as Sri Lanka are knocked out in the semi finals.
