India vs Sri Lanka Women's Asian Games Preview & Tips

India Women were far too good for Bangladesh in the last round as their 114-run win underlined their dominance over the other sides in the competition.

Sri Lanka Women looked very impressive in the semi-final of the Asian Games as they breezed past Pakistan in an eight-wicket win.

Head To Head

India have won nine of their last 10 T20's against Sri Lanka, with the latter winning once back in 2024.

India Women Form

India Women continued their seemingly unstoppable march towards gold at the Asian Games with a simple 114-run win over Bangladesh.

Not content with notching what looked a match-winning 195/4 with the bat, India then skittled Bangladesh for 81. Shafali Verma (100 not out from 49) and Deepti Sharma (3/7) starred with bat and ball respectively in a big win.

While India were outstanding against Bangladesh, it rarely looked like they needed to get out of second gear. Indeed, Verma's innings was incredibly destructive, but it always felt like once they had gone beyond 150 runs Bangladesh would struggle.

While Sri Lanka will likely provide a sterner test, India should not struggle too much. Only the likes of Australia, England and South Africa can continually challenge or beat India. While victory in this one will underline their place as the best women's team in Asia, few will need convincing that this side are the out-and-out leaders on the continent.

Sri Lanka Women Form

Sri Lanka Women continue to impress in the Twenty20 game, with eight wins coming across their last 10 outings.

A single defeat to Pakistan back in August and a 72-run loss to India earlier in the month blots their copybook in this time. At the Asian Games, Sri Lanka completely outclassed Malaysia in an 86-run win before they roared to an eight-wicket win over Pakistan in the semi finals.

While Pakistan did battle their way to a solid score of 177/4, they could not take the wind out of Sri Lanka's sails. Indeed, Sri Lanka secured an eight-wicket win with 13 deliveries to spare. All things considered, Pakistan would likely have needed a score of around 200 to truly test an opponent in fine form.

Against India, Sri Lanka will likely be the side on the backfoot. India's batting and bowling unit will give their opponents little room to work, and this will likely see Sri Lanka crack under the pressure. A silver medal is not to be sniffed at though, with Sri Lanka taking the title of best of the rest.

I am backing India to defeat Sri Lanka in the Asian Games final as Verma continues to score runs for the former.
