India vs West Indies 2nd T20 Preview & Tips

India roared to a comfortable eight-wicket win over the West Indies in the first T20 as they easily beat their opponents.

The West Indies saw their score of 171 chased down easily as their tour of India began with a big loss.

Head To Head

India have won seven of their last 10 T20's against the Windies with the latter managing just three wins in this time.

India Form

India were outstanding in their opening Twenty20 against the West Indies as any fears that their impressive winning run was at risk were put to bed.

Of course, each new game is different, but if India can match the levels we saw in the first T20, then they will not likely lose. Only two West Indies batters could score more than 15 runs, with Naman Dhir (3/31) doing most of the damage.

With the bat, Shreyas Iyer's stunning 102 from 43 saw India's captain score the majority of the runs in a brutal display of hitting. His innings showcased 10 boundaries and six maximums as the number four batter took the tourist's bowling unit to the cleaners.

Across India's 10-game winning run in the T20 format, they have beaten sides including Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Japan, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, while they have now added the West Indies to this list. The quality of opposition has been steadily increasing, and India have looked better with each game.

Iyer continues to impress in the T20 format, with his average this year climbing up to 39.31. With the Windies unable to remove him in the first T20, I am backing him to build on his century with another good score.

West Indies Form

After battling to 38 without loss after 4.2 overs, the West Indies would have felt they were right in the game, with a score of around 200 on the cards if they could keep wickets in hand and accelerate.

However, Kamil Pooran's wicket for 12 started the collapse as the Windies slumped to 44/3 after 5.5 overs. While they did rebuild to 107/3, they then suffered from another collapse as they slipped to 124/7 after 14.1 overs. In truth, their rebuilds were fairly impressive given the quality of opposition, but this saw any hope of posting a score of 200 dashed.

Early wickets were needed and the Windies got just that as they had India teetering at 35/2. However, Ishan Kishan was able to hold down an end for his 37 as he watched his captain smash 102 in a match-winning knock. Only one West Indies bowler could go at below 10.00 per over, with Matthew Forde coming in for particular treatment as he went wicketless for 39 runs in two overs.

While they have won six of their last 10 in the T20 game, they have now lost four of their last six outings. Playing against India when in form is incredibly tough, but doing it on the back of four defeats in their last six means I am backing more pain for the Windies in the second T20.

I am backing India to secure the win and go 2-0 up as Iyer continues to score runs for his side.
