India could not defend a score of 249/5 in the second T20 as they saw the Windies power to victory with six wickets to spare.

West Indies were outstanding in the second T20 as they made sure that one loss did not turn into two in a stunning display of hitting.

Across their last 10 meetings, India have won six matches with the Windies winning the other four.

India Form

India saw their 10-game winning run in the T20 format come to a grinding halt at the hands of an inspired West Indies side.

Despite posting an imposing score of 249/5 courtesy of Sanju Samson's brilliant 82 from 41, they were probably around 20 runs short of a truly competitive score. The Windies ultimately cruised home with six wickets and nine deliveries to spare, with the home side unable to remove Shai Hope as he plundered a century.

Fortunate for India is the fact they are not short of talent and quality as they look to bounce back. The home side have won 10 of their last 11 T20's and will be the hot favourites to get back to winning ways. Removing Shai Hope early will be key as India look to ensure he does not build momentum again.

While the Windies showcased their ability to beat their hosts, I am backing India to avoid slumping to another defeat as they go 2-1 up in the series.

West Indies Form

The West Indies may have been unfancied ahead of the second T20, but they have quietened the doubters by showcasing a batting unit that can outdo the best.

Their chase of 250 to win was seriously impressive as Shai Hope smashed his way to an unbeaten century. Ably backed up by Sherfane Rutherford (84 from 37), the touring side rolled back the years to put on a clinic that we have not seen often from the Windies of late.

However, successfully chasing a score of 249 against India in every T20 is not likely to be a long-term winning formula. Indeed, India will likely come back even stronger in the third T20 as they look to ensure one loss does not turn into two.

Shai Hope's exploits in the second T20 were something to see, and I predict he will star again. However, with India a team that will not take defeat lying down, I predict Hope will end on the wrong side of the score in the third T20.
