Pakistan vs India Asian Games Preview & Tips

Pakistan edged past Bangladesh in a morale-boosting six-wicket win in their Asian Games semi-final as they set up a clash with old rivals India.

India put on full show how much better than the majority of the opposition they are as they humiliated Sri Lanka in a 124-run win.

  • Pakistan have lost three of their last four across formats (W1)

Head To Head

India have won eight of their last 10 T20's against Pakistan, with the latter winning twice. Worrying for Pakistan will be the fact they have not beaten India in a T20 since 2022.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan needed to be at their best against Bangladesh as they secured a six-wicket win in a match restricted by the weather.

This victory came on the back of three consecutive defeats to England in the Test match format. While the difference between a Test and a T20 could not be larger, poor form across any type of the game can often bleed into another format.

Restricting Bangladesh to 111/7 in 13 overs before securing a six-wicket win was a real step in the right direction for Pakistan. However, a win in the previous game before facing India means nothing. Alongside England, India are the best T20 side in the men's game, and I predict that Pakistan will be the latest side to fall at their hands.

India Form

India were in no mood to hang around against Sri Lanka in their Asian Games semi-final as they roared to a 124-run win over their opponent.

Built on Ishan Kishan's 80 from 46, India posted a total of 169/7. With the ball, India tore through Sri Lanka's batting unit. Incredibly, Jasprit Bumrah (2/7), Axar Patel (2/8) and Abhishek Sharma (2/2) all took a pair of wickets without conceding double-figures when it came to runs.

Pakistan will need to be at their very best with bat and ball to get close to India, but this would also need to coincide with India underperforming with bat and ball. India are in a level above Pakistan, and I back Kishan to build on his score of 80 with another good total in a victory for his side.

Verdict

I am backing Ishan Kishan to go on the attack with the bat as India triumph at the Asian Games.
