Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 2nd T20 Preview & Tips

Pakistan looked good with bat and ball in the first T20 as they battled to a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka saw their solid score of 182/8 easily chased down by an inspired Pakistan side in the first T20.

The last 10 meetings between the pair have seen Pakistan win six matches and Sri Lanka win four times.

Pakistan Form

Pakistan were good value for their win in the first T20 as they ensured their 19-run loss to India in the final of the Asian Games was not compounded by defeat to Sri Lanka.

This win made it three victories across their last four T20's in a good performance. Despite seeing Sri Lanka work their way to 182/8, Pakistan did not panic. Indeed, Sahibzada led by example as the captain surged to 89 from 53. By the time he was removed the score was at 179/5 with Pakistan needing just four to win.

The one worry for Pakistan may be that outside of Maaz Sadaqat, no batter could really return a score of note. Of course, this needs to be tempered with the fact that Farhan starred and led them to the win, but their top-order will want to impress with good scores in the second T20.

With a series win within sight, Pakistan are my pick to surge into a 2-0 lead. The home side were very impressive in the first T20 and if Farhan can continue his fine form, they will be tough to stop.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka were indebted to a stunning 91 from 55 for opener Lahiru Udara as he smacked 11 boundaries and one maximum in a brilliant showcase of batting.

However, Sri Lanka's score of 182/8 felt around 15 runs short of truly competitive, and so it proved as the home side surged home with four wickets and seven deliveries to spare. When it all comes together, Sri Lanka have the quality to challenge Pakistan, but eight defeats across their last 10 in the shortest format shows big performances have been few and far between.

While they are still in the series, I predict that they will struggle in this one. Their inability to properly arrest an alarmingly bad run of form in the T20 game is a worry, and they will likely slip to another defeat as they lose for the third consecutive time against Pakistan in the shortest format.
