Sri Lanka vs Nepal Asian Games Preview & Tips - Sri Lanka to avoid humiliating Asian Games loss

Nepal are hoping to build on their impressive three-game winning run across competitions which has seen them arrive in form. 

 

In the shortest format, Sri Lanka lost by 119 runs, six wickets and eight wickets to England, with the difference between one of the best sides in the men's game and Sri Lanka put on full show. Fortunately for Sri Lanka, they have the chance to take on a side they are big favourites to beat. 

However, Sri Lanka cannot be complacent. Nine defeats in their last 10 T20's is an incredibly poor return, and if early wickets fall when they bat or Nepal get off to a fast-start when Sri Lanka are in the field, heads might go down. Despite their woes in the T20 game, I am backing Sri Lanka to get the job done, although they will have to do something truly special to go all the way at the competition this year. 

Despite this, they were excellent with the bat as they powered to 149/4 in 15 overs. If they had been able to bat the full 20 overs, they would have fancied their chances of posting a total close to 200. This came hot on the heels of their simple five-wicket win over Afghanistan in the game before. 

While they arrive as the form team in this clash, they will struggle against Sri Lanka. The odds are perhaps a lot closer than some might expect them to be, but such is the woeful form of this Sri Lanka outfit that Nepal will be in the match. Despite this, I am not backing Nepal in this one as they are ousted at the quarter-final stage.
