Welsh Fire vs Trent Rockets Preview & Tips

Welsh Fire have been superb at The Hundred this year and are aiming to maintain their status as one of only two men’s sides in the competition yet to lose.

Trent Rockets sit two points behind the Fire in the standings after securing their first win in a four-wicket triumph over London Spirit.

  • The Fire are yet to lose this season (P2, W2)

Head To Head

The Rockets have won four of their five previous matches against the Fire, with the latter winning the other meeting.

Welsh Fire Form

Welsh Fire have been outstanding at the start of the competition in 2026, with the side boasting one of the most well-rounded batting and bowling units on the men’s side of the game.

Their last outing against MI London saw them indebted to a stunning score of 98 from 44 from Rachin Ravindra. This came after Phil Salt and Matt Short fell for single-figure scores. Ravindra’s stunning knock featured seven boundaries and seven maximums as he went at 222.73.

Defending a modest score of 167/5, the Fire then restricted MI to 152/6 as Lockie Ferguson’s express pace saw him take 4/10. The Fire were indebted to their New Zealand contingent as they starred with bat and ball.

The worry for the rest of the competition will be that even if Ravindra and Ferguson do not perform, the likes of Phil Salt, Matt Short, Joe Root, Chris Woakes and Marco Jansen will be on hand to star instead. The Welsh Fire have one of the best teams in the competition and they are firing right now. I back another win for Wales’ only competitor in the competition.

Trent Rockets Form

Trent Rockets edged to a four-wicket win over London Spirit in their last outing as they got their campaign up and running on the men’s side of the tournament.

In their last match, the Rockets managed to chase down 160 to win as they triumphed with four wickets and two deliveries to spare. Ben Duckett was the hero with the bat as his brutal 75 from 47 saw him carve the opposition bowling attack apart. On a day in which his fellow batters failed to post a better individual score than 22 runs, the England opener was at his very best.

The Rockets boast four wins in their last five against the Fire, but the latter look like a much better side this season. While I predict that the Rockets will give the Fire a real test, I have not seen enough in the travelling side to suggest that they are good enough to beat a team I back to go well this season.

Verdict

I am backing the Welsh Fire to make it three successive wins at the competition as they continue to impress with bat and ball.
