Manchester City are sitting in fifth place on the English Premier League table, just two points off the fourth spot which is currently occupied by Chelsea. Pep Guardiola’s men also have a game in hand and that one takes place tonight in London against Tottenham.

If City win that game, they can retake the fourth spot from Chelsea and could also move into third place, if Nottingham Forest lose their game against Arsenal.

The current season has been nothing short of a disaster for Tottenham. They are sitting in the 13th spot with 11 points separating them and Manchester City.

The only good news for Ange Postecoglu is that his club has recovered well recently and won three league games in a row for the first time this season. The charge to climb up the league table will take Spurs’ mind off the back-to-back defeats which saw them exit the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Exactly a month ago, Tottenham fell to a 2-1 defeat at home against relegation-threatened Leicester City. Despite their poor form this season, it was a game that their fans predicted them to win, but things did not go Spurs’ way. A comfortable 3-0 win in the Europa League against Elfsborg followed by a 2-0 win away at Brentford made the situation better.

The air of discontent surrounded the Spurs after Liverpool dumped them out of the Carabao Cup after a 4-0 defeat in the second leg of the semifinal. The situation worsened a couple of days later when Aston Villa knocked Tottenham out of the FA Cup with a 2-1 defeat.

However, the Spurs bounced back in the Premier League with a narrow 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Manchester United. Last weekend, Tottenham travelled to Ipswich Town, who are in a relegation battle and returned with all three points after a comfortable 4-1 win, registering three consecutive wins in the league for the first time this season.

There are no new names on the injury list for Tottenham for their upcoming match. The attacking duo of Richarlison and Dominic Solanke are still out and so is defender Cristian Romero.

Timo Werner has recovered from a hamstring injury but is still doubtful for the upcoming match. If the striker passes the late fitness test, he could start from the bench.

Manchester City Form

Manchester City will come into this match after two back-to-back defeats. The two losses against Real Madrid ended their Champions League campaign in the first knockout round of the competition.

Liverpool inched closer to their record-equalling 20th Premier League title after handing City a 2-0 defeat at the Etihad last weekend.

The only recent respite for Manchester City came in the form of a 4-0 win over Newcastle United. Omar Marmoush scored a 14-minute hat-trick to hand the Magpies a setback in their pursuit for the top four this season.

Manchester City’s last league visit to London came at the start of this month when they visited the Emirates. It was a game to forget for the Sky Blues as they were at the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline. The chances of experiencing a similar walloping are quite low on this trip, but Spurs have been a thorn in City’s side multiple times in the past.

The visitors will be sweating to get Erling Haaland fit. The striker missed the Liverpool game last weekend and is doubtful for the London trip. However, he could travel with the squad and start from the bench.

At the other end of the pitch, City will continue to be without the defensive duo of John Stones and Manuel Akanji, who are both out till April.
