India vs Bangladesh Women T20 World Cup Preview & Tips
India Women slumped to a shock six-wicket loss at the hands of South Africa in their last World Cup match as they saw their two-game winning run brought to a grinding halt.
Bangladesh Women secured a vital win over Pakistan in their last outing as their 23-run win kept their hopes of securing a semi-final spot alive.
- India Women beat Bangladesh by 10 wickets in their last T20 meeting
- Smriti Mandhana has scored 68, 74 and 17 at the World Cup for India
Head To Head
In their last 10 T20 meetings, India have secured nine wins with Bangladesh winning once back in 2023.
India Women Form
India Women will know that their hopes of taking their place in the semi-finals of the Twenty20 World Cup are in their own hands, but they cannot afford another slip-up after their shock loss to South Africa in their third game.
Currently sat on four points, India can tighten their grp on one of the top two places with another win. Australia's perfect start means they have taken a maximum of eight points from their four outings, meaning India need to beat Bangladesh comfortably before taking on Australia in their final group game as they look to top the standings.
Arriving for their top of the group clash with the Aussies in form is crucial, and I predict India will get back to winning ways against their in-form opponents. Smriti Mandhana has enjoyed a good World Cup so far, and I predict that she will go well against Bangladesh as she leads from the front with runs.
Bangladesh Women Form
This will be the defining match in Bangladesh Women's World Cup campaign in 2026, with the side on the cusp of taking their place in the semi-finals of a major cricketing event.
Following wins over the Netherlands and Pakistan along with a loss to Australia, Bangladesh currently sit on four points. A win over India would see them leapfrog their opponents ahead of what would then likely be a winner-takes-all clash with South Africa in their final group game. With a potential place in the semi-finals on the line, the pressure could not be higher.
While Bangladesh are in good form heading into this one, they are completely outmatched by their opponents. India have won nine of their last 10 against Bangladesh, while their only game against a genuine world class opponent at the tournament in 2026 saw them hammered by Australia in a nine-wicket loss.
I foresee that Bangladesh will make things awkward for India, but I predict that they will let an opportunity to keep their semi-final hopes in their own hands evade them.
Verdict
I am backing Smriti Mandhana to continue to give opposition bowlers all kinds of problems as India surge to a crucial win over Bangladesh.
