Portugal vs Norway
Portugal have been excellent in the UEFA Nations League after winning their opening three matches and moving clear at the summit. While Denmark, Norway and Wales have all taken points off one-another, Portugal have beaten each of their opponents in a run that has seen them get better with each passing game. Their 1-0 win over Wales was a tight victory over a stubborn opponent. They then got the better of Norway in an entertaining 2-1 win before they beat Denmark 4-2 away from home. With nine points in the bag, Portugal could go nine clear of third and secure their place in the knockout stage of the competition with a win. Joao Felix has been a key part of their winning run by netting in each game. I back him to continue his excellent run as he scores for the fourth successive game.
Norway were consigned to a shock 2-1 loss at the hands of Wales as they went from leading 1-0 to finishing the game behind and with 10 men. This loss made it consecutive defeats in the competition after their 2-1 home loss to Portugal. Now, with only three points from three matches, Norway need to get back to winning ways if they are to keep their fate in their own hands. While they do boast five wins across their last nine, they have also lost four times. Defeats to France, England and Portugal have seen the nation lose to three top sides, but their defeat to Wales is a major worry, with the side hardly in the elite of the game. While Norway will hope to use their 2-1 loss as a wake-up call, I predict they will slump to a third defeat.
Wales vs Denmark
What an evening it was for Wales and their fans in Cardiff as they secured a defiant 2-1 win over Norway. Despite going a goal down after just 11 minutes, Wales rallied as they scored either side of half-time to take all three points. Aided by a red card for Norway and the travelling side struggling to build momentum after their goal, the Welsh took their chances to go ahead, although they would have been sweating in the closing moments after failing to take a number of presentable chances in the second-half. Attention now switches to trying to secure successive wins in the competition. Worrying for Wales will be their limp 2-0 defeat at the hands of Denmark in the reverse of this fixture. However, Wales playing at home is a tough proposition for any side, and I back the home team to take a valuable point from Denmark.
Denmark arrive for their fourth Nations League match on the back of a 4-2 home defeat to Portugal. Despite coming back from 1-0 and 2-1 down, Denmark could not make the most out of Portugal's defensive issues, with the away side eventually running away with a 4-2 win. This defeat was their second in three Nations League matches and calls into question their ability to beat opponents consistently. While they easily beat Wales in the return of this fixture, I predict that they will have a harder time breaking Wales down in Cardiff.
Verdict
I am backing Joao Felix to continue his impressive scoring run as Wales hold Denmark in Cardiff.
