Bangladesh vs India Women’s Asian Games Preview & Tips
Bangladesh Women were given a walkover in the quarter finals of the Asian Games as their clash with China was abandoned without a ball bowled.
India Women hammered Japan by eight wickets in their quarter-final as they took their place in the last-four with ease.
- India have won eight of their last 10 in the shortest format (L2)
- Shafali Verma scored 40 not out from 15 in India’s clash with Japan
Head To Head
India have won nine of their last 10 T20’s against Bangladesh, with the latter winning once back in 2023.
Bangladesh Women Form
Bangladesh Women return to T20 cricketing action for the first time since their comfortable 40-run loss to India earlier in the month.
While a walkover of a match will see Bangladesh return to the field fresh, missing out on taking to the middle will have an impact on their batters and bowlers. Having the chance to test out the conditions against a weaker side would have been ideal, but their abandoned game means they now have to hit the ground running against the best team in the tournament.
With nine consecutive defeats against India heading into this one, I predict that Bangladesh will exit the tournament having played once and lost once.
India Women Form
India Women know that they should not only win this match, they should also cruise to the title against a weak set of international teams.
Usually vying for silverware with the likes of Australia, England and South Africa, India’s main competition comes from the likes of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. While each have improved across formats in recent years, they are all someway short of the top bracket of teams in the women’s game.
Their quarter-final outing against Japan ended in the hammering most had expected. They skittled their opponents for just 57 before cruising to an eight-wicket win. Shafali Verma starred with 40 not out from 15, with her innings featuring six boundaries, two maximums and a strike rate of 266.67.
I back Verma to continue to impress with the bat in this one as India cruise into the final of the Asian Games.
Verdict
I am backing India to eliminate Bangladesh as Verma adds to the 40 runs she scored in the quarter-final against Japan.
