England vs India Women 2nd T20 Preview & Tips
England Women were outclassed by India Women in their opening encounter as they slipped to a 38-run loss.
India Women were brilliant with bat and ball in the first T20 against England Women as they took a big step towards a statement series win over their hosts.
- England have lost two of their last three T20's (W1)
- India have won five of their last seven against their hosts (L2)
Head To Head
India have won five of their last 10 against England with the latter winning the other five.
England Women Form
England Women went into the first T20 against India full of confidence as they looked to secure a third win in four against their opponents in the shortest format.
However, England could not make the most out of reducing the tourists to 7/2 as star batter Smriti Mandhana was dismissed for a golden duck. While five more wickets did fall, this came at the cost of another 181 runs, with England's bowlers struggling to make inroads between the second and 12th overs.
With the bat, Amy Jones impressed with a score of 67 from 48, but she could not supply the necessary firepower as her strike rate of 139.58 eventually saw England fall 38 runs short. Of course, Jones was not the issue as she steered her side within sight of victory, but this was a real lesson for the home side as their batting and bowling units struggled against a well organised side that I back to beat them once again.
India Women Form
India Women will be chasing yet another T20 win over England as they aim for a series triumph over their hosts with one game left to play.
Their impressive score of 188/7 came despite their openers contributing two runs between them, meaning there is more firepower to come. With the ball, Nandani Sharma (3/34) did the damage, but the fact only one of their bowlers went for more than 8.60 per over shows a side that were tight with their lines and miserly in the field.
With a shot at a 2-0 series triumph on the line, India will be confident. They played the conditions in the first T20 perfectly with bat and ball and will target an England batting unit that looks like it will crumble when put under pressure.
Verdict
I am backing India to secure the victory and series win as they hand England a loss that will have the home side scratching their heads.
