Sri Lanka Women vs Pakistan Women 2nd ODI Preview & Tips
Sri Lanka stumbled to 210/9 in the first ODI as their batting unit failed to take full advantage of being 56 without loss and 109/1 after 23.4 overs.
Pakistan cruised to a five-wicket win as they impressed with bat and ball to take a big step towards securing a series win over their hosts.
- Pakistan have won their last five in the ODI game
- Gull Feroza top scored with 78 in the first ODI
Head To Head
Pakistan have won seven of their last 10 ODI's against Sri Lanka, with the latter winning the other three.
Sri Lanka Women Form
Sri Lanka would have been confident that they could go well beyond the 250-run mark in the first ODI after their top order all made stars on their way to 109/1.
However, wickets began to tumble once they passed the 100-run mark, with Sri Lanka collapsing to 210/9, meaning they lost eight wickets for 101 runs. Their score was made all the more frustrating as five of their top six scored 28 runs or more. Ultimately, a lack of a batter making the most out of their start cost them.
While they will have had aspirations of giving Pakistan problems when they went in to bat, 210 runs was always going to be a tough score to defend. Much like Sri Lanka, Pakistan saw their top order fire as their first four batters made at least 20 runs. Gull Feroza proved the big difference as her defiant 78 broke the back of the chase.
In the second ODI, Sri Lanka have to find a way to make the most out of any solid start with the bat which will give them more of a score to defend. However, their major collapse with the bat is a worry heading into this one, and I predict they will slump to another defeat.
Pakistan Women Form
Pakistan Women were outstanding in their opening match of their ODI series against Sri Lanka as they roared to a deserved five-wicket win.
This was a case of holding their nerve in the field as they tried to prod and probe with the ball. While a single wicket fell in the first 23 overs, Pakistan managed to take a second wicket with the score at 109, and from there, they were able to take regular wickets and pile the pressure on the home side as the runs dried up.
Gull Feroza notched a high score of 78 from 77, and she was ably assisted by Sidra Ameen's watchful 57 from 94. While they did lose a handful of wickets on their way to their target of 211, they were well on top as they cruised to a five-wicket win with 42 deliveries to spare.
With five consecutive ODI wins heading into this one, I am backing Pakistan to go 2-0 up in the series. Gull Feroza looked at ease on a wicket that saw batters fail to kick on after making starts, and I predict that she will impress with the bat once again.
Verdict
I am backing Pakistan to secure the win in the second ODI as Gull Feroza goes beyond the 30-run mark.
