Birmingham Phoenix vs Trent Rockets Preview & Tips

Birmingham Phoenix were disappointing in 2025 as they slumped to a fifth-placed finish after winning just three of their eight matches.

Trent Rockets were denied top spot in The Hundred via net run rate, with their six victories in eight very impressive.

While a new season brings with it renewed hope of a stronger campaign, the Phoenix have been hit by a huge injury blow, with Jacob Bethell ruled out of the competition with a knee injury. While one player does not make a team, Bethell's presence in the batting unit took an average looking Birmingham side up a notch.

Across their last two against the Rockets, they have lost by six wickets and three wickets. Both meetings in 2025 underlined the woes Birmingham have had when facing their opponents, and I predict a tough start to the campaign for the home side.

Trent Rockets are looking to emulate a very impressive campaign in which they finished second in the regular season before also securing second via defeat in the final at the hands of MI London.

Their campaign saw them secure six wins from a possible eight in the regular season before they took on MI London in the final. Unfortunately for the Rockets, they could not keep up with the eventual champions as they slipped to a 26-run defeat.

This season, the focus will be on taking advantage of an explosive batting unit that features Tom Banton, Ben Duckett, Finn Allen, Sam Billings and Tim David. If the Rockets are given the chance to score runs, then they may be one of the big-scoring sides at the tournament in 2026.
