Namibia vs South Africa 3rd ODI Preview & Tips

Namibia have struggled to get close to South Africa across their ODI series, with defeats by 99 runs and 157 runs seeing the margin of defeat increasing each time.

South Africa have been good value for their 2-0 lead over Namibia, with the Proteas surging into an unassailable lead with one game to come.

  • South Africa have won three of their last four in the ODI game (L1)
  • Tony de Zorzi has scored 151 runs in two innings for the tourists

Head To Head

The pair have met twice before in the ODI game, with South Africa cruising to two big wins.

Namibia Form

Namibia have not been anywhere near good enough with bat or ball against South Africa, shown by the home side crumbling and going 2-0 down with one game to come.

Admittedly, the difference in quality between the sides is massive, but Namibia would have been hopeful they might have given the Proteas more issues, especially when considering the personnel missing for the tourists.

However, defeats by 99 runs and 157 runs has seen Namibia restricted to scores of 162/8 and 178, while South Africa have scored 348/6 and 335/9. Clearly, their batters and bowlers have struggled to keep up with their superior opponents, and I back this trend to continue in the final ODI as they are beaten 3-0.

South Africa Form

South Africa continue to storm to big scores against Namibia before either bundling them out cheaply or keeping them well below the required run rate in a series that has seen a very good touring side storm ahead of their weaker hosts.

The first ODI saw South Africa's score of 348/6 underpinned by Jordan Hermann's 150 from 126. A team total of 335/9 came partly via Connor Esterhuizen's 119 from 110, with both openers able to fill their boots with runs. While the Proteas have seen 15 wickets fall across two games, they have scored 683 runs in impressive style.

While Tony de Zorzi is yet to score a century, he has been South Africa's most consistent batter. With scores of 72 and 79 so far, I back de Zorzi's excellent tour to continue as he leads his side to a 3-0 series win.

When it comes to backing a winner, there is little sense wagering on the home team to win. Everyone in this young South Africa team will be desperate to prove they have what it takes to keep their place, and I back them to surge to another statement win.

Verdict

I am backing Tony de Zorzi to continue his brilliant ODI series against Namibia as he leads the tourists to a third successive win.
