New Zealand vs Bangladesh Women T20 Preview & Tips

New Zealand Women were competitive in their recent series against England and, despite losing 2-1, will feel they are showing signs of real promise ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

Bangladesh Women are aiming to end a poor run of form against New Zealand in the T20 game after losing all five of their previous meetings.

  • Bangladesh are yet to beat New Zealand in the T20 game (P5, L5)
  • Sophie Devine scored 45, 87 and 0 in New Zealand’s recent T20 series against England

Head To Head

The pair have met five times before in the T20 game with New Zealand winning all five games.

New Zealand Women Form

New Zealand Women are edging towards their Twenty20 World Cup campaign hoping to defend the crown they secured in the UAE as they surged to the trophy in 2024.

Ahead of the tournament, they have pushed hosts England hard in a 2-1 series loss, and they will complete their preparations with a clash against Bangladesh and South Africa. With matches against the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Scotland and England to come, entering the tournament on a good run of form is vital.

Fortunately for New Zealand, they have proved far too good for Bangladesh in the shortest format. Their last T20 meeting ended in a 71-run win back in 2023, and I expect another triumph for New Zealand.

Sophie Devine looked in great touch with the bat against England and if she plays in this match, I back her to continue to pile on the runs in conditions that seem to suit her well.

Bangladesh Women Form

Bangladesh Women will also appear at the 2026 Women’s World Cup, but their hopes of progressing from a group that contains Australia, India, the Netherlands, Pakistan and South Africa look slim.

Like New Zealand, they will target a positive run heading into the tournament, but they will have to be nearly perfect to beat New Zealand. Their opponents have proven themselves as one of the top sides across formats, and they will be incredibly tough to beat.

While the chance to beat one of the world’s top teams is on offer, ending a five-game losing run against their opponents in the T20 format looks unlikely. Ultimately, the result in this match will likely signal what is to come when they head to the World Cup this summer.

Verdict

I am backing Sophie Devine to impress with the bat as New Zealand move towards the World Cup on the back of another win.
