The 2026/27 Premier League season has already seen a huge amount of change, with new teams, players and managers thrown into the pressure-cooker that is England’s top league.

Arsenal have won their opening three matches of the season, but are they the side to back to defend their crown in the 2026/27 campaign?

Arsenal are the favourites to secure the trophy again this year, and they have been perfect so far, beating Coventry, Aston Villa and Chelsea on their way to the joint-top of the standings.

This comes as second favourites Manchester City have edged past Bournemouth and Coventry, while they also hammered Crystal Palace 4-1.

The start of the season has seen both City and Arsenal impress, but the true test will come when one of the two sides drops points. If they allow one failure to snowball then it could allow their rival to surge ahead.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea come in next. Liverpool sacked Arne Slot at the end of last season and replaced him with Andoni Iraola, while Xabi Alonso was brought in for Chelsea.

The start of the new season has seen Chelsea impress while Liverpool and Manchester United have been very inconsistent. The campaign is still very new, but if the three are serious about challenging City and the Gunners, then they have to be consistent.

For United and Liverpool, dropping points across their opening three is far from ideal, meaning they will feel they simply have to start winning more often or they will find themselves someway short of the summit.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have impressed so far, with the Blues looking good going forward, although they have been conceding with alarming regularity.

With a number of new managers at the helm of the top teams, the title race this season could be one that shifts back and forth as teams try to come to terms with different styles and new additions.

With new faces set to take to the pitch or stand in the dugout, this season will likely turn with each matchweek that goes by. Can Arsenal defend their title, or will one of their competitors secure the trophy this time round?
