ASEAN Cup Best Bets – October 2

Thailand have been impressive at the 2026 ASEAN Cup, with a pair of wins seeing them storm to the top of Group B. Thailand hammered Pakistan 4-0 in their opener before easing to a 2-0 win over Vietnam. The Philippines constitute the last test Thailand are yet to face from their group, but they will be confident. The Philippines have taken a single point from a possible six in a poor start. With Thailand able to potentially move well clear at the summit, I am backing the nation to secure a third consecutive win over their opponent. 

Vietnam began their ASEAN Cup campaign with a battling win over the Philippines as they took all three points in a 1-0 win. However, they could not turn one win into two as they slumped to a 2-0 loss to Thailand. Despite their defeat, Vietnam still find themselves in prime position to take one of the top-two spots. A win over bottom side Pakistan could see Vietnam go top, although it is more likely a win would see them move five clear of Pakistan and the Philippines but three points behind Thailand. This will be the first meeting between the pair in a competitive match, and I predict that Vietnam will secure consecutive home wins in the competition.
