Review of the First Match
Bangladesh and Nepal played out a drab 0-0 draw on Saturday at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu.
Despite both teams hoping for a boost after defeats in their Asian Cup Qualifiers back in June, the match failed to ignite. Bangladesh’s defence, under coach Javier Cabrera, looked organized, but the lack of urgency going forward left them without clear chances.
Nepal, too, were largely subdued, with their captain Kiran Kumar Limbu rarely troubled in goal. Sujon Hossain deputized between the posts for Bangladesh and enjoyed a comfortable outing, as Nepal seldom threatened.
Cabrera rotated heavily in the second half, but none of the substitutions managed to alter the rhythm of a match that drifted towards a stalemate.
What to Expect in the Second Game
The second friendly, scheduled for Tuesday, offers both teams another chance to test their depth ahead of tougher fixtures later this year. Bangladesh will be eyeing sharper attacking combinations, especially with key players like Jamal Bhuyan reintegrated into the squad.
Nepal, meanwhile, will look to impose themselves more physically and test Bangladesh’s backline that was largely unchallenged in the opener.
Given the first game’s tempo and the fact that both sides are still experimenting with line-ups ahead of the Asian Cup Qualifiers, another tight, cagey battle is likely on the cards.
Betting Value Markets
- Under 2.5 Goals – With the last match ending goalless and neither attack showing much cutting edge, the under looks the safest play.
- Both Teams to Score – No – Bangladesh and Nepal both struggled to create clear chances in the first meeting. A repeat of at least one side drawing a blank feels probable.
- Draw in First Half – Saturday’s opening half was uneventful, with very few openings. Another slow start is a strong possibility.
