Switzerland vs Bosnia
Switzerland were left stunned in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup as they dropped points in a 1-1 draw with huge underdogs Qatar. This draw was the second time they have been held in their last two in all competitions, while they have drawn three of their last four and five of their last eight. Their inability to consistently win matches is a major worry heading into this one, and I predict more frustration for the Swiss. A lack of bite up front will likely hurt them, and I back them to drop two more points.
Bosnia were not able to take three points from Canada in their opening match as they shared the points with their spirited opponents. Their 1-1 draw with Canada made it six consecutive stalemates for Bosnia, with the side suddenly losing the ability to win matches inside 90 minutes. With an inability to outscore the opposition, this one looks like it is hurtling towards a draw.
Mexico vs South Korea
Mexico were outstanding in their opening game of the World Cup as they dealt perfectly with the pressure of being one of the co-hosts of the tournament and playing the first match. Their 2-0 win over South Africa saw Mexico handed position and chances as the former struggled, but Mexico should be credited for their strength in defence and their willing to take the chances they were given. Now, with four consecutive wins heading into this one, they will be very confident. However, South Korea have been outstanding of late, meaning this one may be decided by a piece of brilliance or mistake.
South Korea were brilliant against Czechia in their opener as they dealt with the physical presence of their European opponents before beating them by playing the better football. Their 2-1 win made it three consecutive wins after victories over Trinidad & Tobago and El Salvador. With their excellent performance against Czechia in their opener in mind, they will be confident. However, they have failed to win any of their last four against Mexico, losing three times and drawing once. While I predict an entertaining game between two sides that will want to move the ball around, I do not back South Korea to secure successive World Cup wins.
Verdict
I am backing Switzerland and Bosnia to share the points in their match as Mexico continue to wow their own fans with another triumph.
