Sri Lanka vs Pakistan Women 2nd T20 Preview & Tips

Sri Lanka Women were brilliant in their opening T20 against Pakistan as they stormed to a six-wicket win over the touring side.

Pakistan Women were unable to protect a score of 176/7 as their bowlers took some real punishment at the hands of their hosts.

Sri Lanka have won five of their last 10 T20's against Pakistan, with the touring side winning the other five.

Sri Lanka Women bounced back in impressive style in the first T20 after a poor start with the ball saw the touring side romp to 66 without loss after 6.2 overs and 127/1 after 14.5 overs. Taking regular wickets saw Sri Lanka strike with the score at 131, 138, 163, 169 and 171. This kept Pakistan honest as they were restricted to an entirely chaseable score.

With the bat, Sri Lanka were indebted to a stunning unbeaten century from Imesha Dulani as her 17 boundaries and one maximum ensured the home side cruised to a six-wicket win. With one over to spare and Dulani still at the crease, Pakistan would likely have needed in excess of 190 to win the first T20.

Now, the focus is firmly on securing the series win with a game to spare. A triumph in the second T20 would constitute their 12th win in their last 14 in the shortest format, and I back them to notch a third successive win over Pakistan in the T20 game.

Pakistan Women Form

Pakistan Women allowed a promising position with the bat to slip in the first T20 as their wayward end to their innings gave Sri Lanka all of the help they needed to get back into the match.

Ultimately, Pakistan were not quite good enough across the board to triumph in the first T20. Sri Lanka impressed with bat and ball and found a way into the game even when on the back-foot. By contrast, Pakistan allowed momentum to stall as they handed Sri Lanka the win despite being well on top in the first 15 overs of the match.

Defeat in the first T20 is the latest in a string of poor performances in the T20 game. Nine defeats across their last 10 T20's shows they have not been good enough in the shortest format, and I back another poor showing as they see any hopes of securing a series win evade them.
