Brazil vs Norway

Brazil arrive for their Round of 16 clash on the back of an impressive three-game winning run at the 2026 World Cup. Starting off with a battling 1-1 draw with Morocco, Brazil have since beaten Haiti (3-0), Scotland (3-0) and Japan (2-1). While wins over Haiti and Scotland were simple, they were pushed all the way by Japan. Indeed, they needed to come from behind to beat Japan, with a 95th minute goal required to avert extra-time. While Brazil have kept clean sheets in two of their four at the competition this year, they have not looked completely secure, and this will likely see Erling Haaland eyeing up more goals at the competition.

Norway have been excellent across the World Cup, with three wins coming from their opening four. Their only defeat has come at the hands of France as Norway rotated their side to keep their better players fresh. In their Round of 32 match against the Ivory Coast, Norway needed Erling Haaland to continue his impressive scoring run at the competition having scored in each of his last three matches and providing five goals so far. With this game likely to see goals, I am backing Haaland to continue to terrorise defences as he builds on scoring the winner in Norway's recent 2-1 win over the Ivory Coast.

Mexico vs England

Mexico have been outstanding at the 2026 World Cup, with the side winning all four of their matches without conceding a single goal. Wins over South Africa (2-0), South Korea (1-0) and Czechia (3-0) saw Mexico top their group, while they beat Ecuador 2-0 in the Round of 32. Their brilliant run has seen Mexico edge closer to an unlikely World Cup trophy. Their clash with England is their first big test, but they will be confident that they can secure a fifth consecutive win. The likelihood will be that most of their plans centre around finding a way to keep Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane out of the game. If Mexico can start quickly then they will be hugely confident, especially if England are to struggle to create clear chances as they have done across the tournament.

England needed their greatest ever goal scorer to dig them out of a hole against DR Congo as the Bayern Munich forward scored a brace to take England from 1-0 down to a 2-1 win. This victory made it three wins and one draw across their campaign to this point, while they have now scored two goals or more in three of their four matches. Harry Kane has scored five goals so far, with the England striker in fine form. If Mexico give him chances to score, then he will punish them.

Verdict

I am backing Erling Haaland and Harry Kane to continue to score goals for Norway and England respectively.
