Australia were in trouble at one stage in their chase of 190 against West Indies in the T20I series opener before debutant Mitchell Owen dragged them out with a fighting fifty on debut to deliver a three-wicket win.

With the ball, Ben Dwarshuis was exceptional in the end overs to finish with 4 for 36 as he ensured West Indies could only end with a whimper.

Fifties from Cam Green and Owen pushed Australia over the line in the first game against a rusty West Indies unit that lacked a bit of bite and discipline.

"I honestly tried not to look at the field too much and just sort of react to each ball, which I think held me in good stead," Owen said of his fifty. "Obviously, it's a little bit different, but I think my process, my game plan, wasn't too different to opening the batting coming in at six.”
