Sri Lanka vs Pakistan Women 3rd ODI Preview & Tips
Sri Lanka Women stormed to an eight-wicket win in the second ODI as they kept their series against Pakistan alive as a contest.
Pakistan Women need to bounce back at the first time of asking after they saw their score of 273/5 easily chased down in the second ODI.
- Pakistan have won six of their last eight ODI's against Sri Lanka (L2)
Head To Head
Pakistan have won six of their last 10 ODI’s against Sri Lanka, with the latter winning the other four matches.
Sri Lanka Women From
Sri Lanka Women arrived for their ODI series with Pakistan on an excellent run of form across formats, with the nation winning 11 of their previous 14 before their clash with the touring side.
Similarly, they looked good in the ODI game, winning five of their seven heading into the series. While they did struggle in their opening clash, they have since rekindled the sort of form that has seen their stock rise in the 50 over format.
Their excellent win in the second ODI was as much built on miserly bowling as it was intelligent batting. Now, the third ODI will provide both teams with a shot at winning the series. While I predict another hard-fought contest between two well-matched sides, I am backing against Sri Lanka winning the series. They have had their problems against Pakistan in the ODI game, and I back the touring side to secure the win.
Pakistan Women Form
Pakistan Women have had their moments across the series against Sri Lanka, but they were outplayed by their hosts in the second ODI as their total of 273/5 proved insufficient.
Sidra Ameen was the star of the show for the touring side as her unbeaten 100 helped her side towards the 300-run mark. However, taking 120 deliveries to get there, Ameen was one of four top five batters that returned strike rates of well below 100.00. Their slow rate of scoring saw Pakistan post a total well below 300, with this proving costly.
While I back Pakistan to secure the series win, they will need to score quicker in the final ODI. Using all 300 deliveries is key in the ODI game, but a side cannot afford to be too defensive. Pakistan will need to take a leaf out of Sri Lanka's book when they bat in this one as they try to ensure their batters are striking at a run-per-ball at least.
Verdict
I am backing Pakistan to win their series against Sri Lanka as they bounce back from defeat in the second ODI.
