Australia vs West Indies Women T20 World Cup Preview & Tips
Australia Women are big favourites to take their place in the T20 World Cup final, with only the West Indies now stood in their way.
West Indies Women were beaten by Ireland in their last match as their six-wicket defeat saw them make it consecutive defeats at the T20 World Cup.
- Australia are perfect at the 2026 World Cup (P5, W5)
- Ellyse Perry scored 56 from 38 in her last appearance for the Aussies
Head To Head
Australia have won nine of their last 10 T20's against the West Indies, with the latter winning just once in this time.
Australia Women Form
Australia Women have proved too good for any side at the 2026 World Cup, with the Aussies beating every team that has challenged them so far.
Placed into the tighter of the two groups, Australia have beaten South Africa, Bangladesh, the Netherlands, Pakistan and India in a dominant run. Arguably their tightest win came as they beat India by six wickets in their last outing, but to say this was actually a tight win would be an overstatement, with the Aussies cruising home with an over to spare.
In truth, no side has really been able to trouble the Aussies, and I believe this trend will continue in the semi-finals. Nine wins in 10 T20's against the Windies shows Australia have dominated their opponents and, led by Ellyse Perry with the bat, I back Australia to take their place in another major final.
West Indies Women Form
The West Indies knew they would be playing knockout cricket if they could beat winless Ireland in their final group game. With the Irish poor across their opening four, victory looked very likely.
However, a stuttering display with the bat saw the Windies limp to 128/7 before they failed to put real pressure on Ireland with the ball. The Irish ultimately cruised to a big six-wicket win with 11 deliveries to spare. Coupled with their tough 38-run loss to England, the Windies have now lost their last two at the World Cup.
Matches against Australia are tough enough when a side has momentum with them. In this one, the Windies arrive on the back of two defeats, with their place in the semi-finals only secured by England's win over New Zealand. Without any form of momentum, I predict that the Windies will struggle, with their excellent start to the World Cup set to make way for three consecutive defeats and elimination at the semi-final stage.
Verdict
I am backing Australia to ease past the West Indies as Ellyse Perry continues to star with the bat.
