Manchester Super Giants vs Sunrisers Leeds Preview & Tips
Manchester Super Giants edged to a 10-run win over Sothern Brave in their last game to keep their hopes of taking a top three place in the table alive.
Sunrisers Leeds hammered Welsh Fire by 71 runs in their last outing as they surged to a third consecutive win in the tournament.
- The Super Giants have won their last two in the competition
Head To Head
In the 10 previous meetings between the sides, the Super Giants have won five times with the Sunrisers winning the other five.
Manchester Super Giants Form
Manchester Super Giants needed a big performance against Southern Brave in their last game as they tried to build on their nine-wicket win over the Welsh Fire in the game before.
Against the Brave, the Super Giants saw Tim Seifert (55 from 34) and Paul Walter (64 from 32) build a good score, but regular wickets began to fall as the side went from 119 without loss after 62 deliveries to 149/8 after 100 deliveries. Fortunately for the Super Giants was the fact they played a Brave side that have struggled for runs this season, with the side trundling to 139/6.
Victory means the Super Giants sit in third with 16 points. A big win could see them move above the Sunrisers, while it pushes them onto 20 points. With four sides in contention for two places, the Super Giants simply have to win this one or they will likely see their season end before the playoffs.
Sunrisers Leeds Form
Sunrisers Leeds surged to their third consecutive win in their last outing as they overpowered a stuttering Welsh Fire.
Batting first, the Sunrisers were in brutal mood as they smashed 201/4 with each of their top six batters making scores. Zak Crawley was particularly aggressive scoring 34 from 12 at 283.33. In reply, the Fire could not get going as no batter could go at a strike rate of 150.00 or more as the side were restricted to 130/6, meaning they were beaten by 71 runs.
Their third successive win means they sit in second on the ladder, four points clear of the Super Giants, Fire and MI London. While they do hold the lead over the chasing pack, defeat could still see them eliminated. Their batting line-up has been in good form of late, but I predict that their woes on the road, which has seen them lose two of their three away from home, will come back to haunt them.
Verdict
I am backing the Super Giants to do all they can to ensure they take their place in the playoffs of The Hundred.
