Bangladesh have finalised their 16-man squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against the Netherlands, followed by the Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi.

The selectors have opted for experience by recalling wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan and allrounder Saif Hassan, while two familiar names, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Naim, have missed out.

Key Inclusions

Nurul Hasan, who has been in decent form in recent domestic T20s, and Saif Hassan, who impressed with a half-century against the Pakistan Shaheens and a strong knock for Melbourne Stars Academy, have both been brought back into the side.

Their returns are seen as a move to strengthen both the middle order and the leadership options in crunch moments.

Notable Absentees

The omission of Mehidy Hasan Miraz is one of the major talking points. The new ODI captain had re-entered the T20 setup recently but was unable to deliver in Bangladesh’s series against UAE.

Alongside him, top-order batter Mohammad Naim has also been left out, despite featuring in the recent win over Pakistan. Both players have been named among the standby options.

Preparation Path

Bangladesh will play the Netherlands on August 30, September 1, and September 3, using the series as a tune-up for the Asia Cup. Their campaign in Abu Dhabi begins on September 11 against Hong Kong.

With the Asia Cup being one of the biggest regional competitions of the year, the selectors are keen to test different combinations before the main tournament.

Squad Balance

Led by Litton Das, the squad has a mix of experienced campaigners like Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam alongside younger names such as Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon.

All-round depth comes from the likes of Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, and Mohammad Saifuddin, ensuring options across departments.
