South Africa vs India Women T20 World Cup Preview & Tips – India to extend perfect start to the CWC

India Women hammered the Netherlands in their last match as they secured a statement 95-run win. 

India have won four of their last 10 T20’s against South Africa, with the latter winning the other six. 

South Africa Women had no room for failure in their second World Cup match against Pakistan after they were easily beaten by Australia in their opener. 

With their 65-run loss to the Aussies still ringing in their ears, South Africa restricted Pakistan to 126/9 in their 20 overs as Marizanne Kapp (3/23) impressed with the ball. While things looked good in their chase as they battled to 53/1 after 6.2 overs, Laura Wolvaardt’s dismissal triggered a collapse as South Africa lost seven wickets for 73 runs. 

Despite their batting collapse, South Africa did get over the line, which was the most important thing. However, Pakistan’s bowling unit is not in the same bracket as India’s. This means if they allow their opponents to make early in-roads with the ball, then they will be restricted to a low score, which will likely see them beaten. 

India Women have been excellent at the T20 World Cup, although they will know the quality of vanquished opposition in their first two games is far lower than their next foe. 

India have struggled against South Africa in the T20 game, winning just four of their last 10 meetings. However, their opening wins over arch-rivals Pakistan by 64 runs was quickly followed by an even bigger 95-run win over the Netherlands. While India were tipped to win both games, the scale of their wins over supposed minnows has been more impressive than some of their other competitors have managed. 

While South Africa have been something of a bogey team for India in the shortest format, I predict that they will come good when it matters most. South Africa have not been at their best of late, and I predict that India will take advantage of this as they edge closer to the semi-finals.
