India vs Pakistan Women T20 World Cup Preview & Tips

India Women were unable to chase down England's score of 171 as their entire top-order failed to fire in their final warm up match, with Smriti Mandhana's one from six particularly disappointing.

Pakistan Women's preparations for the World Cup have been poor, with their last four matches ending in heavy defeats against a range of opposition.

India have won six of their last seven T20's against Pakistan (L1)

India have won seven of their last 10 against Pakistan with the latter winning the other three meetings.

India Women Form

Against England, India Women were edged out by five runs, with a thrilling run-chase ending in the side losing for a third time in four games. Admittedly, all three of these defeats have come at the hands of England, but it will still be a worry that they have lost so consistently to another contender for the trophy.

Prior to this, India had edged to a 25-run win over the West Indies which allowed them to bounce back from a pair of defeats to England. While India have the quality to beat any side on their day, they have not been at their best across their last 10, with three wins coming alongside seven defeats.

Perhaps it is fortunate that Pakistan are India's opponents in their opener. Not only are India far superior to their opponents across all facets of the game, they will also be able to use a World Cup clash with their arch-rivals as a simple way to really get fired up for their game.

India are the better team in this match, and I predict they will rekindle the sort of form we are used to seeing from them.

Pakistan Women Form

Pakistan Women knew they needed to come into their opening match of the World Cup on the back of a positive run as they looked to stun one of the best sides in the women's game.

In reality, they arrive in woeful form, with four consecutive defeats coming across their last four. Positively, prior to this they had won four consecutive matches. However, with the exception of a very impressive 53-run win over South Africa, their other three wins were ones they were expected to get against Zimbabwe.

Across their last four, Pakistan have lost to the West Indies (by 25 runs), Ireland (seven wickets), Sri Lanka (nine wickets) and Scotland (41 runs). Their awful run has seen them lose to a number of sides that they had every chance of beating. Now, with the quality of opposition rising massively, I predict a tough opener for Pakistan.
