Kolkata Knight Riders vs Gujarat Titans Preview & Tips
Kolkata Knight Riders know that this is a huge chance to secure two points and keep their slim playoff hopes alive with a handful of games left to play.
Gujarat Titans can tighten their grip on one of the Qualifier spots with victory over their in-form hosts.
- KKR have lost their last three matches against GT
Head To Head
Gujarat Titans have dominated this rivalry since entering the IPL. Across five completed matches, Gujarat have won four times with Kolkata Knight Riders winning the other meeting.
Kolkata Knight Riders Form
Kolkata Knight Riders' season has been inconsistent, although their recent run of form suggests that they may not be out of the playoff race quite yet.
KKR currently sit on nine points from 11 games. With seven sides currently sitting ahead of them and better placed for a playoff spot, KKR ideally need to win each of their last three matches.
Their recent defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore was a major blow to their playoff hopes. Virat Kohli's stunning unbeaten century proved the difference on the night, with KKR unable to displace RCB's talisman.
While KKR arrive on the back of a much better run that has seen them win four of their last five, I predict that they will slump to a frustrating loss that all but curtails their playoff ambitions.
Gujarat Titans Form
Gujarat Titans have been among the most consistent teams in IPL 2026 and already look like serious title contenders. Their success has been built on a powerful top-three with the bat, along with some world class bowling talent.
Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan continue to provide one of the strongest opening partnerships in the tournament. Jos Buttler has not been at his destructive best, but he has come in and done a job more often than not.
Bowling remains their biggest advantage. Rashid Khan continues to control games through the middle overs, while Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder help to make up an attack the best international teams would be envious of.
Importantly, Gujarat currently look settled with their game plan. While they can be put under serious pressure if their top-order struggles, this is easier said than done. With bowlers that are taking wickets and ensuring the runs do not flow easily, I back GT to continue their march towards the playoffs.
Verdict
I am backing GT to secure their ninth win in 13 matches as they edge closer to taking their place in the Qualifier.
