Crystal Palace vs Rayo Vallecano Preview & Tips
Crystal Palace are aiming for a stunning end to the season as they chase a European trophy that, earlier in the campaign, seemed very unlikely.
Rayo Vallecano will feel they have every chance of stunning the favourites as they head into the Conference League final on the back of two European wins.
- Palace have won their last two European games with both sides scoring
Head To Head
This will be the first time the two teams have met in a competitive match.
Crystal Palace Form
Crystal Palace have looked an incredibly tough nut to crack in Europe this season, losing just three of their 16 total matches.
Across their last 10, Palace have lost once, while they have won six times and drawn three matches. Clean sheets have not been secured consistently, with the English side securing just four clean sheets in this time. However, where they have often struggled for clean sheets, they have made up for it by outscoring the opposition.
Indeed, four of their last five matches have seen the side score two or more goals, with only their 2-1 loss to Fiorentina letting them down on this run. However, it is worth noting that they did manage that loss to the Italians after storming to a 3-0 win in the first-leg.
Against Rayo Vallecano, I back Palace to secure the win. The Premier League side have been outstanding in Europe and despite failing to keep a clean sheet of late, I predict they will secure a major European trophy.
Rayo Vallecano Form
Rayo Vallecano have been excellent across their Conference League campaign, with the side arriving for the final on the back of a 2-0 aggregate win over Strasbourg.
Despite this solid run in the semi-finals, Rayo Vallecano have lost two of their last five matches in the competition. Each of their last three wins have been to nil, showing that the Spanish side are tough to break down. If Rayo Vallecano can get the first goal then they will fancy their chances of holding Palace out.
However, I predict that the Spanish side will struggle to contain their opponents in a game in which both sides concede as Vallecano miss out on the trophy.
Verdict
I am backing Palace to secure the win despite failing to keep a clean sheet as the English side secure the trophy.
