Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings Preview

Two of the most successful teams in the history of the IPL will face off in a Sunday night blockbuster at the M Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both teams are coming off a subpar 2024, where neither team finished in the final four.

Mumbai Indians had a terrible season last year with injuries and a lack of form as they finished last. However, they have renewed vigour this year with a strong Indian core and some smart selections in the mega auction.

Chennai have done similarly off the field after finishing fifth last year. Chennai have brought in players like R Ashwin and Noor Ahmad that will suit their style of play in the slow conditions that Chennai has to offer.

Mumbai Indians Form

Mumbai Indians were quite clear from the outset that they wanted to retain an exceptional core of Indian players that included Rohit Sharma, captain Hardik Pandya, Tilak Varma, Jasprit Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav.

Apart from these players, Mumbai have brought in role players to do a job around them, such as Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar and a few more. These players will form the new core of Mumbai for a deep run into the 2025 season.
