New Zealand will look to extend their dominance over Pakistan as the two sides now move into the ODI format after a lopsided T20I series. In the T20Is, New Zealand decimated Pakistan 4-1 after the visitors were simply unable to cope up with the bounce on offer.

New Zealand will now go into the ODIs as favourites too considering their depth and quality. There are plenty of changes to both squads with longer-form specialists coming in to the squad.

For Pakistan, the onus will be on competing considering how woeful they were in the T20s. Apart from one match – in Auckland – Pakistan were dominated with both bat and ball. Pakistan’s cricket has fallen off a cliff in the last few months, and this series will be about reinvigorating some spirit back into the squad.

The bowling has been strengthened with Nathan Smith coming in but lots of domestic players have been brought in to the squad, such as Nick Kelly, Rhys Mariu and left-arm seamer Muhammad Abbas.

The bowling has also been bolstered with Faheem Ashraf, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim in the fast bowling department.
