Peshawar Zalmi vs Pindiz Preview & Tips
Peshawar Zalmi finished a single position above the Multan Sultans at the foot of the table in 2025 as their campaign failed to really get off the ground.
Pindiz arrive for their first ever Pakistan Super League match hoping to add to Zalmi's woes following their poor campaign last season.
- Zalmi won two of their last four in the PSL (L2)
Head To Head
This will be the first time the pair have met in a competitive match.
Peshawar Zalmi Form
Peshawar Zalmi need to find a way to consistently win matches in 2026 if they are to prove that they can secure one of the post-season spots.
Across the season, Zalmi managed to win just four of their 10 games. While two of these wins did come across their final four matches as they ended the season fairly well, it will worry the side that they won just two of their previous six.
While Zalmi were poor last season, they will eye their opening fixture as entirely winnable. Pindiz will arrive for their first fixture in the PSL as an unknown quantity. They could hit the ground running with a big performance, but it is just as likely that they will struggle to really get the wheels turning.
With this in mind, I back Zalmi to roar to a crucial win in their opening match of the 2026 PSL as they start as they mean to go on.
Pindiz Form
Pindiz arrive for the 2026 PSL as one of two new sides in the competition, with the newcomers looking to ruffle some feathers in their opener.
Pindiz boast a number of big names including Mohammad Rizwan, Sam Billings, Daryl Mitchell and Usman Khawaja, with all match-winners on their day. However, none of the three-afore-mentioned players are younger than 33. While age does not always matter in T20 cricket, I predict that a lack of youth may come back to haunt them as the tournament goes on.
In their opener, I predict that they will have their moments in the match, but I do not back it to be enough as they slip to a loss in their first ever PSL game.
Verdict
I am backing Zalmi to take the points in their opening match as they give Pindiz a rude awakening in their first PSL outing.
