Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 2nd T20 Preview & Tips
Zimbabwe were once again too good for Bangladesh in the opening Twenty20 as they easily beat their opponents in a 32-run win.
Bangladesh's batting unit struggled for any form of consistency as not even Yasir Ali's half-century could get the touring side close to their target of 171.
- Bangladesh have lost their last five T20 matches
- Zimbabwe have won four of their last seven in the shortest format (L3)
Head To Head
Zimbabwe have won four of their last 10 T20's against Bangladesh, with the latter winning the other six meetings.
Zimbabwe Form
Zimbabwe's top-order went well with the bat in the first T20 as four of their top five batters scored 20 runs or more.
Brian Bennett provided Zimbabwe's top score with 44 from 30, while Brad Evans (19 not out from 10) struck some quick runs late in the piece to swell Zimbabwe's total to 170/6. Not to be outdone by their batters, Zimbabwe restricted Bangladesh to 138 all out, with Richard Ngarava (4/26) and Blessing Muzarabani (4/17) starring with the ball.
With the chance to secure the series win by beating Bangladesh in the second T20, I back Zimbabwe to hand their opponents yet another defeat as the home side continue to impress.
Bangladesh Form
It has not been a positive series for Bangladesh, with the touring side currently 4-1 down across Tests, ODI's and T20's against Zimbabwe.
Their woeful run of form looks set to go on if they cannot remedy their batting issues. With the ball they looked fairly good as they kept Zimbabwe honest. Only one batter could go at over 160.00, while none of Zimbabwe's players could make a half-century or more.
However, with the bat they struggled for any kind of momentum. Yasir Ali's 54 from 38 was an impressive showing in counter-attacking, but he was given little help. In truth, losing by 32 runs flattered Bangladesh, with only one player able to make it to the 20-run mark and beyond.
While Bangladesh have the players to win this game, few have come to the fore. Indeed, their batters have struggled against Zimbabwe's well-rounded attack, and I predict that they will falter once again.
Verdict
I am backing Zimbabwe to go 5-1 up on aggregate across their multi-formats series against Bangladesh as the former continue to showcase their impressive improvements on the field.
