Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 3rd T20 Preview & Tips

Zimbabwe saw their top three batters fail to fire in the second T20 as they fell apart chasing 187 to win.

Bangladesh impressed with bat and ball as they skittled their hosts 34 runs short of their score of 186/5.

  • Bangladesh have won two of their last three matches against Zimbabwe in all formats (L1)

Head To Head

Bangladesh have won seven of their last 10 T20's against Zimbabwe, with their opponents winning the other three.

Zimbabwe Form

Zimbabwe failed to deal with Bangladesh's openers as the pair both scored half-centuries. While the home side did restrict Bangladesh to 186/5 after they had made it to 120 without losing a wicket, chasing 187 to win always looked like a tall order.

With the bat, it was left to Zimbabwe's middle-order to do most of the work as they contributed 76 runs, but it was not enough as the home side faltered. This defeat was the seventh time Zimbabwe have lost to Bangladesh in their last 10 T20's, and it has seriously dented their hopes of triumphing in their T20 series.

The first T20 saw Zimbabwe win by 32 runs, while the second T20 ended in a 34-run win for the touring side. I expect a close encounter in the third and final T20, but I do not predict that the home side will end on the right side of the score.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh were in desperate need of a lift after slumping to five consecutive defeats in the shortest format. Their win in the second T20 saw their batting unit fire, with Bangladesh piling the pressure on their opponents.

With the ball, Bangladesh had Zimbabwe reeling at 21/3, and they never really recovered. Wickets continued to fall and despite going from 109/8 to 149/8, the wicket of Brad Evans for 25 effectively ended the game as a contest.

Now, Bangladesh will have the bit between their teeth. Two wins across their last three in all formats shows they have been growing into the series, and I back them to double-down on their win in the second T20 with another strong performance.

Verdict

I am backing Bangladesh to secure a win in the third and final T20 as they win the series 2-1.
