Galle Marvels vs Jaffna Kings Preview & Tips - Jaffna Kings to begin Lanka Premier League with a win

Jaffna Kings are looking to start the new season with a win after their stunning triumph in the LPL back in 2024. 

Despite winning the first Qualifier and heading straight into the grand final, GM could not put their foot down on the accelerator in the showpiece event. Indeed, a score of 184/6 was easily chased down by JK as the eventual champions roared to a nine-wicket win with 26 deliveries to spare. In truth, GM would have needed around 220 to put any kind of real pressure on their opponents. 

This season, GM can start with a statement win over the side that denied them the trophy in the last iteration of the tournament. However, JK have had the better of their opponents after winning six of their last 10, and I predict GM will have to kickstart their campaign on the back of a loss on the opening day. 

In the first Qualifier, JK were completely outplayed by their opponents as they were restricted to 177/7 before Galle stormed to 181/3 in 18.1 overs. This meant JK were in the last chance saloon, and they used this pressure to edge to a one-run win over Kandy Royals before they hammered GM in a nine-wicket triumph in the final. 

Now, JK will be looking to start the defence of their title with a win, and I back them to do so as they secure a third successive triumph and a seventh win in their last 10 matches against GM.
