Hong Kong vs India Women T20 Preview & Tips

Hong Kong Women were edged out by Thailand in their last game as they slumped to a six-run loss in their opening Asia Cup match.

India Women hammered Thailand by 94 runs in their first Asia Cup match as they got off to a winning start at the tournament.

Hong Kong have lost five of their last six T20's (W1)

This will be the first time the two sides have met in a competitive cricket match.

Hong Kong Women face one of the toughest tests in the women's game this week as they take on an India side that has continually underlined their place as one of the best teams in the game.

Hong Kong's opener against Thailand saw the latter restricted to 120/9 in their 20 overs as they went at exactly a run per ball. Despite not needing to do anything spectacular with the bat, Hong Kong failed to chase down their target. Against the most beatable side in the competition, Hong Kong were poor, and they now face the strongest team.

Defeats to Namibia, Tanzania and Thailand across competitions shows Hong Kong are below the required level to really challenge, and I back India to easily win this one as they make it successive wins at the competition.

India Women Form

India Women were not in the mood to mess around in their opening Asia Cup match as they stormed to a commanding 94-run win over Thailand.

Smriti Mandhana was left frustrated as she was run out for 19 from 10, with opening partner Shafali Verma starring with 64 from 36. With the ball, India ran through Thailand as they skittled their opponents for 65 after just 16.1 overs.

While India were backed for a big win, easing past an inferior opponent is not always as simple as it seems. India's ability to impress with bat and ball and avoid any kind of wobble is a positive sign for them at the Asia Cup.

India are my pick to win this match, and I back Mandhana to be in the runs in this one as she makes up for being run out against Thailand.
