New Zealand will be looking to finish the ODI series when they face Pakistan in the second ODI on Wednesday. New Zealand were challenged but still came away with a 73-run win in the first ODI.

That performance was led by Mark Chapman’s 132 off 111 balls, with 13 fours and six sixes. Daryl Mitchell produced 76 off just 84 balls with four fours and four sixes while Muhammad Abbas impressed on debut with 52 off just 26 balls.

Babar Azam and Salman Agha scored fifties in the chase but that wasn’t enough as Pakistan were bowled out for 271.

New Zealand showed their quality and skill in these conditions when they scored 344 on a pitch that had enough pace and bounce early. Even at 50 for 3, New Zealand found a way to make a score that was well above par.

With the ball, it was Nathan Smith who produced 4 for 60 while Jacob Duffy managed 2 for 57. All bowlers picked up at least one wicket in the first match.
